Tie The Knot Launches the Official James Beard Bow Tie and LGBTQ Scholarship!

We are excited to announce that Tie The Knot co-founder, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, will again be hosting this year's James Beard Awards on May 6th at the Lyric Opera Theatre in Chicago!

The James Beard Foundation Awards are annual awards presented by the James Beard Foundation for excellence in cuisine, culinary writing, and culinary education in the United States.

To celebrate, we are once more launching the official James Beard bow tie with proceeds being donated to the James Beard Foundation in support of diversity and LGBTQ inclusion in the culinary community.

As a 2-time host of the James Beard Awards, Jesse is excited to announce the creation of a Tie The Knot LGBTQ scholarship for a student who wishes to pursue a career in the culinary arts. A scholarship of $8,700 will go to a student who identifies as LGBTQ and who plans to pursue a degree in culinary arts, pastry arts, restaurant management, or beverage studies at an accredited institution. Application deadline is May 15 so click here to learn more and see if you can apply!

"As an ambitious home cook, a foodie, and a fanboy of the culinary world, I am thrilled to be hosting the James Beard Awards this year! And, as a passionate supporter of LGBTQ progress, I'm excited that my foundation, Tie The Knot, is launching the official James Beard bow tie with proceeds helping to advance LGBTQ inclusion in our culinary community." - Jesse Tyler Ferguson

The late James Beard was a champion of American cuisine (and an avid bow-tie wearer!), who helped educate & mentor generations of professional chefs and food enthusiasts. The James Beard Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in New York City that continues this spirit by administering educational initiatives, food industry awards, and scholarships for culinary students.
