Tie The Knot Launches Stonewall Bow Tie

We are proud to honor the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall uprising with the launch of our official Stonewall Inn Bow Tie. Proceeds from the sales of this bow tie support Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative.

The Stonewall uprisings were a response to years of oppression, harassment, arrests, and homophobic laws that erupted into a series of spontaneous, violent demonstrations by our LGBTQ community against a police raid that took place in the early morning hours of June 28, 1969, at the Stonewall Inn in New York City. The riots are considered to constitute the most important event leading to the gay liberation movement and the modern fight for LGBTQ rights in the United States.

A year later, Christopher Street Liberation Day was celebrated on June 28, 1970 to mark the first anniversary of the Stonewall riots. Simultaneous marches sprung up across the nation in Los Angeles and Chicago, which were the first Gay Pride marches in U.S. history.
